- Bonding continuity is maintained for equipment and structures
- Multiple earth connections are provided where required by the installation design
4. Cables, Wiring and Portable Equipment
- Cables are protected against physical damage, heat and sharp edges
- No overloaded extension boards or unsafe multi-plug arrangements
- Portable electrical tools and appliances are inspected
- Industrial sockets, plugs and connectors are in good condition
- Temporary wiring is controlled and removed when no longer required
5. High-Risk Electrical Areas
Transformers, DG sets, UPS rooms, battery rooms, HT/LT panels, capacitor banks, motor control centres and server rooms require focused review because of their energy level, heat load and business criticality.
6. Thermography
Infrared thermography can help identify abnormal heating caused by loose connections, overloading, imbalance or deteriorating components. Thermography is most useful when findings are interpreted together with load conditions and equipment history.
7. Electrical Work Practices
- Only authorised and competent persons perform electrical work
- Permit-to-work and LOTO requirements are defined
- Appropriate insulated tools and PPE are available
- Electrical rooms remain restricted and controlled
- Emergency response for electrical incidents is understood
