Hazard recognition
Improve awareness of crushing, shearing, entanglement, cutting, impact and stored-energy hazards.
Help people recognise hazardous machine movements and choose safe controls before operation, cleaning, adjustment or maintenance.
Service overview
Machine safety training builds practical awareness of mechanical and non-mechanical hazards associated with production equipment. It covers danger zones, guards, interlocks, emergency stops, stored energy, safe operating limits and the different risks faced during normal operation, setup, cleaning, fault-finding and maintenance. Content is aligned with the participants’ actual exposure and authority.
Training cannot make an inadequately guarded machine safe. Engineering assessment, safeguard design, safety-circuit validation and equipment modification require competent specialists and a separate scope.
Safety and business value
Improve awareness of crushing, shearing, entanglement, cutting, impact and stored-energy hazards.
Explain why guards, interlocks and protective devices must not be bypassed or defeated.
Strengthen stop, isolate, verify and release-of-energy practices before non-routine work.
Encourage early reporting of damaged guards, abnormal conditions and unsafe access requirements.
Our approach
Safety Zest gathers information on machine types, work roles, incidents and existing isolation rules before delivery. The facilitator uses photographs, demonstrations, videos or site examples approved by the client to make hazards recognisable. Operators focus on pre-use checks, normal limits and escalation; maintenance personnel explore isolation and stored energy in greater depth; supervisors address authorisation, monitoring and response to bypassed safeguards.
The proposal confirms the audience or site, inputs, duration, deliverables and exclusions before mobilisation. This keeps expectations clear and makes the output relevant to actual work.
Coverage
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Hazardous motion | Rotating, reciprocating, transverse and in-running nip hazards; ejection and unexpected movement. |
| Safeguarding | Fixed and movable guards, interlocks, presence sensing, two-hand controls and emergency stops. |
| Work activities | Operation, feeding, setup, cleaning, jam clearing, inspection, adjustment and maintenance. |
| Energy control | Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, gravity, thermal and other stored energy. |
| Management controls | Authorisation, SOPs, pre-use checks, defect reporting, change control and contractor work. |
Methodology
Identify machines, participant roles, exposure patterns and client procedures.
Tailor modules and examples for operators, setters, supervisors or maintenance personnel.
Explain hazard zones, safeguards and safe intervention through interactive examples.
Practise recognition, pre-use decisions and isolation logic using scenarios or demonstrations.
Check understanding and provide records, feedback and recommended follow-up.

Frequently asked questions
Operators, helpers, setters, maintenance technicians, supervisors, production leaders and contractors should attend modules suited to their interaction with machinery.
It introduces energy isolation and verification. A dedicated LOTO programme is recommended for authorised employees who isolate equipment or perform maintenance.
Yes. Client photographs, manuals and a supervised workplace walkthrough can be incorporated when available and safe.
No. Training develops competence and awareness. A machine-safety audit or engineering risk assessment is required to evaluate specific guarding and control-system adequacy.
Yes, subject to safe access, client permission, suitable equipment condition and clear responsibility for isolation and operation.
