Clear responsibilities
Help issuers, receivers, performers and area owners understand their distinct duties.
Build a common understanding of how hazardous work is planned, authorised, monitored, suspended and safely closed.
Service overview
Permit-to-Work (PTW) training explains the formal control process used for hazardous or non-routine work. It helps permit issuers, receivers, area owners and supervisors understand that a permit is not simply a form: it is a documented agreement that defines the work, hazards, isolations, precautions, validity, interfaces, monitoring and hand-back conditions.
Training does not itself authorise participants to issue or receive permits. The client must define appointment, competency assessment, supervision and site authorisation requirements within its PTW system.
Safety and business value
Help issuers, receivers, performers and area owners understand their distinct duties.
Improve hazard review, isolation, simultaneous-operations control and pre-job verification.
Reduce informal deviations by clarifying validity, extension, suspension and cancellation rules.
Ensure work completion, housekeeping, restoration and permit closure are deliberately confirmed.
Our approach
Safety Zest reviews the client’s PTW procedure and forms before delivery when available. The programme is then adapted to work types such as hot work, confined space, electrical work, excavation, lifting, work at height or line breaking. Participants analyse realistic permit examples, find missing controls, practise role interactions and work through changes, emergencies and hand-back situations. The facilitator separates site-specific rules from general good practice.
The proposal confirms the audience or site, inputs, duration, deliverables and exclusions before mobilisation. This keeps expectations clear and makes the output relevant to actual work.

Frequently asked questions
Permit issuers, receivers, area owners, supervisors, maintenance teams, contractors, isolating authorities and personnel who monitor hazardous work should receive role-appropriate instruction.
Yes. Sharing the current procedure and forms before the session allows examples and exercises to reflect the client’s actual workflow.
The interface with isolation and LOTO is covered. Detailed practical LOTO training may be delivered separately when equipment-specific isolation competence is required.
Yes. Joint sessions can clarify the shared language and responsibilities between client representatives and contractor teams.
It can be. The proposal can include a written check, permit-completion exercise, role play or workplace assessment depending on the competence decision required.
